Velocity Micro Cruz tablets carry Ice Cream Sandwich on a budget

Velocity Micro are no newcomers to the Android platform but are rather unheard due to lack of a star-studded product lineup. They have only recently released a range of budget Android tablets equipped with Android 4.0. Focused on mainly low-end user market the tablet has a rather few questionable specs and it does raise serious questions where the ICS platform will last on it ?!

The Cruz T501 and T510 are Velocity Micro’s latest addition to the low-end tablet range.

Cruz  T507

  • 7-inch Capacitive screen
  • 1.2 Ghz Cortex A8 Processor
  • 400Mhz ARM Mali GPU
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 8 GB Internal Storage
  • Front-facing camera
  • HDMI out
Cruz  T510
  • 9.7-inch Capacitive screen
  • 8.9mm Thick
  • 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 Processor
  • 400Mhz ARM Mali GPU
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 8 GB Internal Storage
  • Front-facing camera
  • HDMI out

Early rumors have suggested that the 7-inch variant goes on sale at a mere $150 which on comparison to other tablets running the ICS is rather cheap. A move away from their Android 2.1 and 2.2 is a big plus, especially when the tablet doesn’t come with Android Market or Google Apps. Rather it has the largely growing Amazon App store pre-installed which is thriving on the success of the Kindle Fire. We expect to hear more news when they launch at CES 2012.
