Android platform version distribution chart, Gingerbread leads, Froyo still stands strong while Honeycomb struggles

A long time has passed since Android Froyo 2.2 was launched and today this Android distribution version still has a little over 40% on a global scale despite the fact that lately most Android device come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box.

The real reason for Froyo’s ferm place in this chart (see picture above for more) is due to the lack of firmware upgrades for a lot of Android smartphones and tablets.

Another struggling distro is the Honeycomb with less than 2%, while Gingerbread percentage continues to grow reaching 44% on November 3rd .
