According to a post on Reddit, people who installed the leaked 2.3.4 Gingerbread update, have experienced excessive overheating of the phone and also battery problems.

Ok, so about a week ago my phone overheated, started to lag and lost battery power within seconds. Image of the brutal battery consumption:

I quit running apps often to make sure that there is enough ram (not really necessary as I have never filled up more than half the available ram) so I am pretty sure what happened is not due to too many apps running on the background.

The phone is unrooted and I only install apps from the market that are very popular and I might need. (kinda new to Android phones, coming over from iPhone) So i don’t think is anything I downloaded either. I was taking a short video before the this happened but I have not been able to replicate the problem.

Any Ideas?

It’s a known bug. Some users who have installed the leaked 2.3.4 update for the S II have reported it solves the issue, so hang in there.

Our advice, if you have this version installed and have experienced the same problems either roll-back the update to your previous version or update to a newer one if available.
